Native Plants of The Blackland Prairie

Beauty Rooted in Resilience
The Blackland Prairie is home to a stunning array of native wildflowers in North Texas.
From spring through fall, this endangered ecosystem bursts with color—annual and perennial wildflowers bloom in succession, supporting a web of native pollinators.
These resilient plants are not only beautiful but uniquely adapted to the region’s clay soils and drought cycles, making them essential to restoring and preserving prairie biodiversity.
Only a small portion of the original Blackland Prairie still exists today, but you can make a difference in your yard and community by planting native species that support the insects and animals that call this unique ecosystem home.

I can help you plant with purpose
I completed the Native Landscape Certification Program (NLCP) from the Native Plant Society of Texas in 2025.
I am passionate about supporting sustainable landscaping through the use of plants that are native to the Blackland Prairie of North Texas. I can help you choose plants that will successfully grow in your yard, saving you heartache (and money) in the long run.
Whether you’re planning a new flower garden, restoring a natural area, or just curious about what will thrive in your space, I’m happy to answer questions and provide recommendations to help you create a healthy, beautiful, and environmentally friendly landscape.
